Directions to MacTechGrp Meetings
MIT Building E51 is located at the intersection of Amherst and Wadsworth Streets in Cambridge,
near Kendall Square. Traveling west on Memorial Drive, Wadsworth Street is the first right after
the Longfellow Bridge. Traveling east on Memorial Drive, it is the first LEGAL left turn after
the Harvard (Mass. Ave.) Bridge. Look for a sign for Kendall Square.
The building is the one on the corner closest to Memorial Drive and Massachusetts Avenue.
If you enter through the big entrance at the corner of Wadsworth and Amherst Streets
(if the doors are locked),
go up the half-flight of stairs to your right, and walk down the corridor (with the windows on your right side).
Room 149 will be at the end of the corridor (E51 is an "L" shaped building, 149 is at the bend in the "L")
Room 149
MIT scheduling is sometimes mixed up. Sometimes an event at the Sloan
School will take precedence over us. If that happens, we will shift to another room either on the same
corridor, or on the third floor. At any rate, we will leave a message on the blackboard or at the door
of room 149 saying where we are.
Parking
MIT police occasionally (p=.0001) ticket cars in the raised deck parking lot behind E-51.
If you don't want to be a data point, use the Sloan lot, which is accessible from Main Street.
(Heading south,
it's just past the turnoff for Wadsworth street, just before Memorial Drive and the Longfellow
bridge). You should be able to park in this lot after 6 PM.
IF THE DOORS ARE LOCKED
Sometimes, particularly if you arrive very late, the doors may be locked. An
alternative way into the building is via the pedestrian bridge
from building E52. Cross Wadsworth Street (not Amherst Street) and enter
the building which has a pedestrian bridge back to building E51. (This is building E52.)
Go up to the third floor, and then cross over Wadsworth via the pedestrian bridge.
